Discovering Sesto Calende

Sesto Calende is a small municipality in the province of Varese settled in a very picturesque location at the exact point where Lake Maggiore becomes the Ticino river.

Sesto, located on the Sempione statal road and railway line, is an essential junction for road communication towards the Po Valley and the Sempione and Gotthard passes.

A monumental symbol of this vocation for transport is the double iron bridge over the Ticino, built in 1868.

Thanks to it, the city is also a privileged starting point for visiting both the Piedmontese shores of Lake Maggiore, from Arona to Cannobio, and the Lombardy shores, from Angera to Luino.
